One year into the Corona Pandemic

One year ago, I issued an open letter about The Wellness Clinic’s advancement of the principles of Lifestyle Medicine and how we are successfully using Lifestyle Medicine  to prevent and reverse chronic disease.  This was exactly 2 weeks before the Coronavirus infected the Western World and changed our lives in ways we didn’t think possible.

We have learned a new way of life in the last year.  We haven’t attended social events, we haven’t seen friends and family at will, and unfortunately illness and death have been everywhere we look.

Yet one thing we should have all learned over the last year comes from science:  Those who have maintained their health and used the basic precepts of proper diet, exercise, and other important lifestyle factors have fared far better than those who eat a standard Western diet and lead a typical western sedentary lifestyle.  Overweight, obesity, and any comorbidity have meant the difference between life and death for many.

Going beyond

Over the past year, The Wellness Clinic has been able to go beyond the standard care modern medicine offers. We have literally given many their lives back!  Despite being in the midst of the worst pandemic the world has seen in over 100 years, during this year we’ve helped:

  • reverse chronic kidney disease
  • the beginning of reversing cirrhosis of the liver
  • weight loss from 5 kilograms to 48 kilograms
  • eliminate high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre- and type 2 diabetes, and chronic constipation
  • improve mental health

Now what?

We are beginning to see a light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel.  Thanks to vaccinations and the protective measures of hygiene, social distancing, and masks, we are getting to a place where our lives will be back to the normal of a year ago.  But are we going to learn the health lessons we should?

Are we just going to keep eating a diet full of processed food, junk food and high in inflammatory animal proteins?  Are we going to start to make activity and exercise part of our lives?  Can we improve our sleep and manage our stresses better?
